Coronavirus (Covid-19): CHAT Update

We’re here if you need us

We’re working hard to continue serving the Mid Devon Community. However we have had to make some changes to how we do that in light of the coronavirus and the government advice. These changes are all to help keep everyone safe.

Our opening hours

We’ve had to make the hard decision to close the reception area for the time being. This means you cannot drop in for an enquiry and we are not able to offer showers, or do washing, or sadly offer a coffee and a chat.

Any advice sessions will be done over the phone, or by appointment only. If you come for an appointment we will check that you have not been unwell in the last week, and everyone coming into the building must wash their hands. The appointment area will be cleaned thoroughly between clients. As you will be 2 metres apart with a screen, masks are not necessary but you are welcome to wear one if you feel more  comfortable doing so. Please note: we are not able to offer any refreshments or toilet facilities.

If you are dropping off donations for the foodbank – thank you.  Please ring the doorbell, leave it on the doorstep and we will move it to the food bank.

We have had to change how we operate the food bank so please do not drop in to collect food. If you need food you can call us on 01884 255606 between 10:00 – 12:00 Monday – Friday and we will do an assessment over the phone. As part of your assessment we will see if there is anything else we can do to help you to manage without the foodbank and at times we may have to say no.

We are not able to take enquiries for food outside of these times, and we are not accepting referrals from outside agencies.

We are able to deliver twice a week but these slots are limited so most people will have to pick up food from our office and this will be arranged when you call. If you are having the food delivered you must be home and if you are picking up you must stick to the time slot or we may not be able to get the food to you. This is to keep everyone as safe as possible. See here for more information about our foodbank and the help it can offer

Support and Advice

Our Support and Advice team are still available if you need help with any housing issue or help with debt and money. Our advisors are fully updated and have worked hard to keep up to date with all the latest changes so please call if you need help.

We have limited face to face appointments and we will do as much over the phone or by video call as we can. Unfortunately, home visits are not available at the moment.
You can contact us here or phone on 01884 255606 between 9:30 – 4:30 Monday – Friday.

More details about the sort of things we can help can be found here. If you are another agency and wish to make a referral please contact us first.
